INTRODUCTION

ASSALAMUALAIKUM W.B.T AND SALAM UITM DIHATIKU !

My name is Nursyafarina binti Muhamad. I'm student who is currently study at UITM 

PAHANG, CAMPUS JENGKA.  I'm originally from Besut, Terengganu but currently i live in 

Jengka 15, Pahang.  I am so proud to be chosen as one of the university students in UITM 

JENGKA eventhough it is not far from my house. I hope with this oppurtinity i can be proud 

both of my parents with excellent results in all subject and every semester get a dean.  One of

the most important purpose i'm doing this portfolio is intended to introduce all about ued102    

or well known with soft skill in every topic that i have learned during this semester.  This 

subject  provides students with learning skills essential for university life.  So, study skills  

divided by 7 topic that are:

TOPIC 1: GETTING READYTO LEARN
  

As a university student, we need to realize that we have entered the universe where we need to be more independent and wise to make a choice whether it is good or bad. When we are in university world, we need to get rid of the attitude during high school. It is because high school life and university life are very different. For example:

TOPIC 2: GOAL SETTING


SETTING GOAL IS THE FIRST STEP IN TURNING 
THE INVISIBLE INTO THE VISIBLE

Goals : The ends toward which we direct our effort. 
 In other words : Goals are things we want to achieve.


Goals are important in varsity life because they help motivate 
you to do work, attend classes and study for exams.



FIVE SETTING APPROACH TO SETTING GOALS

STEP 1 : Tentative Goal Statement
- I want to get better in my exams so that I can get a reward and make my parents proud. 

STEP 2 : List of Obstacles
- I am not good in some of my subjects but I need to ace it to achieve my goals. 

STEP 3: List of Resources
- I will do a lot of exercise and practice to  get my low grade subject better.

STEP 4 : Revised Goal Statement
- I will try my best to achieve my goals.

- I will be success in my future.

TOPIC 4: GET TO KNOW THE CAMPUS


This is my campus which is Uitm Jengka, Pahang.  I know that Uitm Jengka very large and have the beautiful place at there because I went to university during my high school have a program.  So, during the program that did, I also went to Al-Bukhari Perpustakaan. I have a picture in front of the library and other place with my school friends.

So, this is our large library which is full with a book, magazine, journal, dictionaries and have a lot of computer.  Students can go the library to study because the place is the most suitable place to go with friends. At there, students also can go there to borrow the book and can find the book about our courses. Furthermore, the library provides the computer which the students can use for their own good such as completing an assigment.

That picture was me with my friends while my school had the program at Uitm Jengka. It is the highest building of Kolej Tok gajah. 


TOPIC 5 : MEMORY LEARNING , IMPROVING LEARNING SKILL AND READING SKILL



MEMORY The retention of information over time or the mind stores and remember certain information (mental process/ cognition). 

LEARNING- Changes future behaviour


There 3 types of memory:

1. Sensory memory - Numerous incoming information from 5 senses will be stored in sensory memory for an instant.  When you pay attention to the stimuli it will go to the short-term memory, but if you not pay attention it would not be last long and may lost.  

2. Short-term memory - Our short term memory have only limited storage.  The information must be repeated in order to get information to long-term memory. 

3. Long-term memory- Our long term memory is unlimited and have large storage.  If the information is not being used for long time.  The information will be lost.

What is Brain ?


  • Brain is just a organ of the human nervous system, and with the spinal cord makes up the central nervous system.

  • Brain is divided by 2 hemisphere .

left – Indicates that a person is more skilled in mathematical, communication, facts, summary, programming, analysis, practices and see in details.

right –  Indicates that a person is creative, artistic, likes visual, have strong instinct, can generate idea, holistic, can multitasking and see image completely.

why do we lack of concentration?

  • -Develop a positive attitude towards your work

Concentration strategies
- These are also known as intensification or focus strategy. The objective of concentration strategy is to expand the organisations present business.

Exceptional reading skills can be highly beneficial to assimilating and responding to written communications like emails, messages, letters and other written messages.

WHAT IS TAKING NOTES ?
-Writing down ideas from lecturers and readings in our own words. 

WHY TAKES NOTES ?
Helps us to pay attention in class.
- Helps us study for quiz, tests or final exams.
- Helps us improve our memory.
- Helps us take ownership of ideas.
- Helps us engage our sense. 
- Helps us organize and process data and information.

TOPIC 7: ACADEMIC INTEGRITY & PERFORMANCE


Academic integrity is the commitment to and demonstration of honest and moral behavior in an academic setting. This is most relevant at the university level as it relates to providing credit to other people when using their ideas. In simplest terms, it requires acknowledging the contributions of other people.


1) WHAT IS PLAGIARISM ?
- An act of using or closely imitating the language and thoughts of another author without authorization and the representation of that author's work as one's own, by not crediting the original author. 



2) APA SYSTEM 

- A writing style and format for American academic documents such as scholarly journal articles and books. It is commonly used for citing sources within the field of behavioral and social sciences. It is described in the style guide of the American Psychological Association, which is titled the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. 


CALCULATING GRADE POINT AVERAGE ( CGPA )


CGPA is a grade pointing system used in the educational sector. Cumulative Grade Points is the average of grade points obtained in all the subjects (Note:- excluding the sixth additional subject).
